DÍA (CD)
Ela Minus
Amoeba Review
Columbian artist Ela Minus's DÍA is a neon-streaked, hands-in-the-air electro-art-pop masterpiece. A former Bogota punk drummer, she has played drums with Austra and worked with Little Dragon and Helado Negro — those past experiences should give you the beginnings of an idea of what you're in for with this dazzling, driving record. These tracks are true bangers, with retro futuristic synths, moody washes of sound, and vocals that alternate between otherworldly and angelic, and glossy and pop-influenced. With a lyrical focus on the breakdown of relationships and cultural systems, with the need for rebuilding, DÍA is a dance record for dark days.
