The Drums, Jenny Lewis, and Vampire Weekend return after some time away, delivering star-studded casts, evolutions in sound, and instantly addictive singles. Then, of course, there are the latest laid back emissions from Mac Demarco, riotous live tracks from Ty Segall, and an emotionally compelling tribute from Steve Earle & The Dukes.

Read on to discover some of our must-have new releases. Your spring soundtrack awaits, with preorders available now.

On their second LP, It's Real, Ex Hex builds on their garage/post-punk hybrid sound, evolving into a bigger, fuller, lusher sound. Experimental and intriguing, it will be available on standard black and limited edition magenta/blue swirl color vinyl.

Haim Release "My Song 5" Video Featuring A$AP Ferg, Ezra Koenig, Ke$ha, Grimes and Vanessa Bayer

haim days are gone lpSister-pop trio Haim apparently opened the “famous people we know” tab on their address book and started dialing around when it came time to film a video for Days Are Gone’s “My Song 5.”

SNL’s Vanessa Bayer hosts a Sally Jessy Raphael-style talk show in which we see one of the Haims in love with mimes, Ke$ha in love with her cat and A$AP Ferg as a guest whose girlfriend has fallen for another woman. Hey look, there’s Grimes chilling in the waiting room. And there’s Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig sitting in the audience. OK, it’s pretty much a game of spot the famous person, but still pretty fun!

Days Are Gone is out now and is still really good.

Pick up the 2014 Grammy Winners on CD and LP

The 2014 Grammy Awards took place over the weekend, with big winners including Daft Punk and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. We were excited to see Grammy love given to Amoeba friends like La Santa Cecilia and The Civil Wars, while best alternative album went to Pitchfork and Rolling Stone's favorite album of 2013, Vampire Weekend's Modern Vampires Of The City. A lot of people were talking about Imagine Dragons' performance with Kendrick Lamar, while our favorite has to be Beyonce's opening performance of "Drunk in Love" with her husband, Jay Z.

2013 Mixtape: 21 Songs for the Time Capsule

Just about everyone could agree on “Get Lucky” and “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” but there were lots of other great singles and album cuts released this year. Here are 21 you can download from Amoeba.com right now. Pretty sure these could just top out a 120-minute cassette tape, if my high school calculations are correct. Check out my top 50 albums list, too!

Kurt Vile's Wakin on a Pretty Daze is a great, melodically hazy stoner-rock record, but "KV Crimes" hits hard, like a song Tom Petty would kick out in five minutes and decide he was too stoned when he wrote it and leave it on the cutting-room floor for some bullshit like "Free Fallin'." Kurt Vile is like our more enlightened Petty, one who knows that off-the-cuff tracks can be the best.
