Welcome to the latter part of January, traditionally a time of the when the first releases of the new year begin. Among the new hip-hop releases profiled in this Amoeblog are some that are technically 2018 releases; 2018 albums that are just now getting their vinyl version release or else either ones that are only now getting distributed or ones that were released online only toward the end of 2018 and are now getting physical releases. Some, not all, of these are included below in this week’s Top Five Hip-Hop Album New Arrivals at Amoeba along with each album’s accompanying music video.

Meanwhile pictured above and left are the two current Weekly Picks in Battle/Break Records. These producer/DJ tailored vinyl battle/scratch records include the 7” Riot Breaks from Pony Records. With handprinted linocut cover art this jam-packed 7" features over 200 samples (many brief spoken word bits from TV news and other sources), four skip proof sentences, and lots of beats for DJs to cut up or juggle to.  Meanwhile ever busy beat digger, prolific drumbeat record producer DJ Paul Nice’s Sure Shot Drum Series Vol. 1 12" LP (Sure Shot Ent)  is the end result of him digging through literally thousands of records to produce this 22 track break record that’s a must have for DJs and producers.
