Dick Dale Tiger

By Kai Wada Roath
Ambassador of Confusion Hill and host of the Super Shangri-La Show

When I was a young lad of 18, I went to see Dick Dale on his Tribal Thunder tour. He was amazing, yet he was also the most boastful "showboat" I had ever seen on a stage. After the show, like many others, I went to get his autograph on the back of an old Esmeralda Fortune Teller’s card. When it was my turn in line, he stopped his autographing routine, put his hands firmly on both my shoulders, looked me straight in my eyes, and started telling me intensely about how one of his pet tigers recently died, and that when he was holding his beloved giant cat during its passing he too ventured to where the animal's spirit was heading.

It was only darkness he saw, there was no vision of the tunnel of light that he had been told about time and again, and from that moment on he was now scared of death and had doubts about the afterlife. Eventually he took his hands off me, signed my card, and went back to handing out his signed picks to the waiting bewildered line of fans behind me, who questioned me after about what he was talking to me about. I The Phantom Surfers & Dick Dalewondered recently, where did his spirit go when it left this Earthly plane? I like to think he is now riding on his tiger with his guitar swung around his back, like He-Man atop Battle Cat, similar to a Frank Frazetta painting. A ghost tiger rider in the sky.

"Guitar Mood 2" - Instrumental Compilation Like No Other (Except "Guitar Mood 1")

Guitar Mood 2- By Kai Wada Roath
Ambassador of Confusion Hill and host of the Super Shangri-La Show

The music had taken full control and into the vortex of madness she was drawn, dancing in circles like a whirling Dervish that had gone pleasantly, yet totally, insane. Mark my words, ye readers of this review, for this situation of delight just happened last evening in my living room while listening to the first song on Guitar Mood 2 -- Takeshi Teruauchi and the Bunnys playing their rendition of Beethoven's Symphony No.5.

If you would like there to be dancing at your next party or in your living room in general, I recommend this album for the following life changing reasons:

From the vinyl treasure vaults of the great Michael Lucas of The Phantom Surfers, Guitar Mood 2 is a instrumental compilation created like no other...err, except perhaps for Guitar Mood 1, but finding Guitar Mood 1 in the wild may be as rare as finding a walnut-sized gold nugget while panning for river shine with a Marie Calendar pie pan for that album is truly mind-boggling amazing. If you find Guitar Mood 1, new or used, it is an omen for years of good luck.

Guitar Mood 2 will whisk you away to wondrous, exotic lands with strumming surf sounds and cumbias Belkingsthat are blended with the traditional folk melodies of Turkey, Japan, Colombia, Peru, and Finland by bands such as Los Belkings, Los Siderals, Siluetler, and more!

Talent Show: The Francis Lau Experience Featuring Francis Lau

Posted by The Bay Area Crew, January 4, 2016 04:00pm | Post a Comment

Francis Lau

Welcome to the Amoeblog's inaugural edition of Talent Show, a place to show off videos from newer acts that will undoubtedly change life as you know it. For our first act we bring you ten-year-old keyboard wiz and '80s synth pop fan Francis Lau. His brand new video that will blow your mind...with lasers.

Francis has been studying the piano for five years now. That's half his life, folks. It's only fitting that this classically trained vintage electro fiend chose Devo's "Time Out For Fun" as his foray into music video land as that's exactly what he's doing as a student of Oakland's 3 O’Clock Rock after school music program. Now Francis and his three-piece white suit are ready to own the internet.

Catch The Francis Lau Experience this Friday, January 8th, at 924 Gilman in Berkeley where he will be opening for Psycotic Pineapple and The Phantom Surfers!! More info HERE.

Ladies and gentlemen, we bring you The Francis Lau Experience...
