Dr. Dog - What's In My Bag? - Amoeba Music

Scott McMicken of Dr. Dog did some shopping at Amoeba Hollywood for our latest What's In My Bag? episode. "I done good," he told us, having dug for some records by his recent musical interests, including the odd-ball, experimental rockers Quintron and Miss Pussycat. Their album Swamp Tech/Electric Swamp was "something that was on the top of my list to suss out when I got here." He continued, "I've gotten really into the whole world of Quintron and Miss Pussycatm, which goes so far, even beyond music."

American rock band Dr. Dog fuses elements of iconic '60s pop acts like The Beatles and The Beach Boys with contemporary indie rock. Founded in Philadelphia in 1999, the band consists of childhood Dr. Dog - Critical Equationfriends Toby Leaman (bass guitar/vocals) and Scott McMicken (lead guitar/vocal), plus Frank McElroy (rhythm guitar), Zach Miller (keyboard), and Eric Slick (drums). The band coalesced while several of the members were attending West Chester University in Pennsylvania. Their first album, 2001's The Psychedelic Swamp, was self-recorded and self-released.

The vocalist/keyboardist wryly continues, "we're parents now so we need...a lot of leather jackets in our life."

Grouplove Big Mess Amoeba MusicLos Angeles indie rockers Grouplove formed in 2009 after the members met at the Ikarus artist commune in Crete. Grouplove signed to Canvasback/Atlantic Records, who reissued the band's breakthrough EP in January 2011. Soon afterward, Grouplove embarked on a co-headlining tour with Foster the People and played Lollapalooza and Glastonbury.
