The Vikings"Across the rainbow bridge of Asgard,
Where the booming heavens roar.
You'll behold in breathless wonder,
The God of Thunder, Mighty Thor!"
~ The Mighty Thor theme from the 1966 cartoon

When I was a kid of just 10 years old, I would ride my Huffy down to the docks with my crab net on my back and spend the day hauling up rock crabs to later throw in a boiling cauldron before having a feast with my nutcracker. This is not the case for Tony Curtis in The Vikings (1958) in which he is sentenced to death by being tied in a low pool to be eaten alive by crabs.

In my humble opinion, this movie is the best Viking movie to this day. I mean, it's a no-brainer, Kirk Douglas has one eye and seeks revenge, and Ernest Borgnine is his dad, drinking out of a horn ...and it's narrated by Orson Welles!

If you live near Bagdad by the Bay, you can see The Vikings on the big screen at the historic Balboa Theatre in San Francisco this coming Wednesday, June 13th at 7:30pm and also buy it on DVD or Blu-ray at Amoeba and keep it in your Odin's Treasure Vault at home.

Glenn Ford

By Kai Wada Roath

Most folks know Glenn Ford from his roles as a soft-talkin' tough guy in such flicks as The Big Heat, Glenn Ford3:10 to Yuma, and Blackboard Jungle. Others may only remember him as Superman's Earth-Dad in the classic 1978 Superman.

Much like the Great and Mighty One (William Shatner, that is), Glenn was a Canadian. While living in Beverly Hills (Century City, everything's so nice and pretty), Glenn illegally raised 140 leghorn chickens until he was stopped by the 90210 "Coppers." One must ponder if he just loved making French omelettes for the neighborhood every morning or if he was practicing trying to replicate the award-winning secret recipe of Dinah's Fried Chicken, for " Nuthin' is finer, than Dinah."

It is said, that after Glenn went to the Golden Hills, a sofa that he allegedly claimed to have had a romantic encounter with Marilyn Monroe on was sold at an auction for $1,750. Glenn was known to have "knocked boots" with Joan Crawford, Rita Hayworth, Brigitte Bardot, and many-many more beautiful starlets. (Please note, it was not these physical encounters that made him a "stud," for what kind of society would we be living in that such "pleasure events" could make a person more admired? No, he was a stud because he played the role of Jacob Waltz, the famous Dutchman of the legendary Lost Dutchman's Treasure of the Superstition Mountains in Lust for Gold!)

Caroline Munro

Do you remember the face that Arthur "The Fonz" Fonzarelli made when he was surprised by the Lone Ranger for his birthday on the "Hi Yo, Fonzie Away" episode of Happy Days? For I had that same expression of unbelievable awe as a young lad when I first saw Caroline Munro appear in her harem costume in the Golden Voyage of Sindbad. (If you need a refresher on being struck in such awe, just watch Lynda Carter do six minutes of Wonder Woman spin transformations.)

Caroline, who is a Capricorn, is known by most for her superb acting abilities in fantasy-action, science Caroline Munro in Dracula A.D. 1972fiction, and the Hammer horror films of the 1970s (such as Dracula A.D. 1972 and Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter, a favorite of the famed ventriloquist comedian, Hiroshi Hasagawa).

"People of Earth, you must heed my warning. Destroy your satellite receivers, dismantle your communications systems, render your TV sets inoperable for the next 200 Earth years."
- Pluthar of Pluton

What happens when an alien energy beam surges down a mutant Hungry Beast to the Putterman’s house on Putterman Lane?

Well, who's hanging out at the Putterman's house anyway, you may ask. We got Grandpa Putterman, who is a crazy military survivalist who makes his own lizard tail jerky, little boy Sherman Putterman, his punk rock sister Suzy and her heavy metal boyfriend named O.D., and, of course, their parents - who happen to be swingers - and their two swinger friends who are enjoying their sex-themed Pleasure Dome wing of the house. And how could I not mention the late night horror host, Medusa, who likes to party. (For any of you Russ Meyer fans, Medusa is very mammerable, um…I mean memorable, and you may have a flash-back to seeing her on Night Court or when she played a ditzy Dolly Parton-ish character on the “It Takes Two to Watusi” episode of Mama’s Family.) Welcome to the world of TerrorVision!
