Climate Change Central to Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramid's new album "An Angel Fell" (Strut) In Store Today @ Amoeba SF

Posted by Billyjam, May 18, 2018 03:50pm | Post a Comment

For his powerful new album An Angel Fell (Strut/Afrostrut), saxophonist  Idris Ackamoor along with legendary ensemble The Pyramids, use their other worldly take on jazz as the perfect platform to address what Ackamoor sees as today's key social issues, among them climate change and its long term impact. Another issue is the age old one of police and race as explored in the new album track "Soliloquy For Michael Brown."  Today May 18th at 5pm  Idris Ackamoor will be at Amoeba San Francisco for a special in-store live set plus album signing session of An Angel Fell (upcoming vinyl/2LP).

“The songs explore global themes that are important to me and to us all: the rise of catastrophic climate change and our lack of concern for our planet, loss of innocence and separation... but positive themes too, the healing power of music, collective action and the simple beauty of nature......I wanted to use folklore, fantasy, and drama as a warning bell,” explained the artist in the preview for today's Amoeba SF In Store
