Contemporary hip-hop’s leading lyrical wordsmith Homeboy Sandman (aka the rappers favorite rapper) this week announced the date and title of his anticipated new album; DUSTY that will be released via Mello Music Group (MMG) on October 18th. This week the advance album track “Far Out” was leaked by the label as a free download as well as being published as an audio-only video (hear below). The new album track follows the release earlier this summer of the Aesop Rock produced banger “West Coast” that accompanied the announcement by the Elmhurst, Queens raised rapper that he had signed with the MMG label.

Yesterday I reached out and asked the former Stones Throw signee what he felt makes this forthcoming album (his debut with MMG) unique?  He immediately replied with a smile that, “I guess I’d have to say the music!” That modest answer overlooks the fact that the naturally gifted emcee pens some of today's most richly complex lyrics that effortlessly manage to pack more into one song that the average rapper accomplishes over an entire album! Homeboy Sandman's new official affiliation with MMG follows his releasing material via Peanut Butter Wolf's Stones Throw Records for several years dating all the way back to 2012’s First Of A Living Breed. His last release was the late 2018 Stones Throw issued album Humble Pi that was a collaborative project with beloved unique Boston producer/emcee talent Edan.

The forthcoming 15 track Mello Music album, which no doubt will be released on vinyl as well as other formats, will focus on Homeboy Sandman’s unmatched lyrical skills with only one track featuring any guest mic collaborators; “Lookout (feat. Quelle Chris & Your Old Droog).” And unlike some earlier Homeboy Sandman releases, that featured numerous different producers, DUSTY is produced exclusively by Mono En Stereo.

Mono En Stereo, aka RTNC, R.Thentic, and Rich Boogie, previously collaborated with Homeboy Sandman on the 2013 eight song Kool Herc: Fertile Crescent EP (Stones Throw Records).  Homeboy Sandman’s new label Mello Music Group this week described the emcee’s upcoming October 18th album release as the artist, “dusting off his impulses and desires, letting his id take charge” and as “what can be described as at the pinnacle of his prowess!”
