Top Five Hip-Hop Albums 11:02:18 [Video Version]

1: Quavo Quavo Huncho (Capitol) (pre-order vinyl LP version coming Jan 18)

Following the digital only release three weeks ago by Quavo Huncho of his official debut solo finally comes the physical CD version of Quavo Huncho by the Migos member with the vinyl LP version coming on January 18th. [Preorder now). Note that late last year, as the duo Huncho Jack, Quavo teamed up with Travis Scott to release the album Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho that featured cover art by Raplh Steadman. While popular with fans the new one hour and six minute album has received mixed reviews from critics (many saying it could have benefited from some editing down in scale) but with all agreeing that it is a distinctly Migos sounding release. No wonder then that fellow members of the famed ATL trio Takeoff and Offset appear on this solo outing. There's many more high profile cameos too on this  album too, even including  Madonna along with an impressive list of popular contemporary hip-hop artists that include Drake, 21 Savage, the aforementioned Travis Scott,  Kid Cudi and Cardi B.  Below is the Daps & Quavo directed music video for "BUBBLE GUM" which is one of three popular advance singles off the new album. The other two advance singles were "Workin Me" and "Lamb Talk."

2: Styles P Dime Bag (Phantom Entertainment)

Unique sounding emcee talent Styles P, who earlier this year released G-Host (feat. such tracks as "Morning mourning" as heard in new music video below), this week unleashes his brand new ten track release Dime Bag via Phantom Entertainment that features such tracks as "Never Fight An African," "Money and Checks," "War N Peace," "Time Machine" and "Couple Dollars."

3: $uicideboy$ I Want To Die In New Orleans LP (Caroline) (CD version already avail)

Following the CD version of I Want To Die In New Orleans release a couple of months ago now comes the $uicideboy$' vinyl I Want To Die In New Orleans LP  version from the darkly engaging SoundCloud rap duo. Hailing from New Orleans' 7th Ward district and comprised of cousins Scrim and Ruby Da Cherry, who are both in their late 20's, the duo specifically chose the name $uicideboy$ when they joined creative forces four years ago, reportedly bonding that if their luck as a musical act didn't pan out that they would simultaneously end it all by both committing suicide. While fortunately such a grisly end never materialized, the pair have by no means abandoned the topic of suicide which continues to play a prevalent role in their lyrical content (alongside such related subject matter as depression and addiction) as witnessed by the 14 track  I Want To Die In New Orleans LP featuring such songs as I" No Longer Fear The Razor Guarding My Heel (IV)" which is the fouth installment in the similarly titled underground EP series of the past few years.

4: Kids See Ghosts Kids See Ghosts LP (CD version already avail)

November 2nd sees the vinyl version release of the Kid Cudi and Kanye West collaboration project Kids See Ghosts Kids See Ghosts LP. Already available as Kids See Ghosts CD the Def Jam seven song release clocks in at 24 minutes, and has been described by Amoeba reviewers as of Kids See Ghosts: "Dark, genre-bending, absolutely entrancing collaboration between Kanye West and Kid Cudi. Pusha T, Yasiin Bey, Anthony Hamilton, and Ty Dolla $ign make appearances and production credits go to the likes of Andre 3000, Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), and Benny Blanco. That’s a lot of star power but this is no case of “too many cooks in the kitchen.” The project is atmospheric, addictive, and pretty experimental. This one will stay on your turntable for months."  Below is a top notch fan made music video for the album track "4th Dimension."

5: Lil Peep Come Over When You're Sober Pt 2 upcoming next week (Come Over....Pt 2 LP/vinyl)

Almost one full year ago 21 year old rapper Lil Peep died from an accidental overdose of the drugs Fentanyl and Xanax. Next week (November 9th) the artist's Come Over When You're Sober Pt 2 CD and Come Over When You're Sober Pt 2 LP/vinyl will be posthumously released. On that same date Columbia Records will also release the 2LP vinyl set that will combine both the new release and the first part that was released as an album in August 2017; Come Over When You're Sober Pt 1 & Pt 2 vinyl 2LP set; all of which can be pre-ordered now by clicking on the blue highlighted links. Come Over When You're Sober Pt 2 CD was assembled by friends of the late rapper in conjunction with the young artist's surviving mother Liza Womack who is also credited as co-director (with Steven Mertens) of the just published music video for the forthcoming album track "Runaway."  The song's mixed media music video, seen below that includes such prophetically eerie lyrics as "I was dying and nobody was there,"  features a series of drawings by Lil Peep dating back to his childhood years, alongside found video footage of the late artist. A friend of Peep's mother, filmmaker legend Terrence Malick of Badlands, Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line fame, is reportedly executive producing a documentary about Lil Peep that is expected to be published next week in conjunction with the new album, as reported by the New York Times.
