From a young age, Monroe paid special attention to voices, even telling her parents at age 3 that listening to Don Henley gave her a "lonely feeling." Having grown up listening to the Eagles, Monroe was thrilled to sing on Don Henley's 2015 album Cass County.

Ashley Monroe grew up in Knoxville, TN before moving to Nashville and signing a publishing deal as a songwriter, which, in turn led to a record contract. Her first LP, Satisfied, featured two tracks that fared well on the Billboard Hot Country charts, "Satisfied" and "I Don't Want To" (featuring Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn.) As a songwriter, she co-wrote "Flat on the Floor" (sung by Katrina Elam and by Carrie Underwood), Jason Aldean's "The Truth" and Miranda Lambert's "Heart Like Mine."

Another distinctive voice that Monroe especially likes is Fred Eaglesmith, whose ability to paint an image with his words and use of interesting rhythms makes him one of her favorite songwriters. She also grabbed Levon Helm's 2007 album Dirt Farmer, which she describes as beautifully capturing his spirit.

But who does Monroe describe as having a voice like a wall of sound? And which artist does she love so much she has gotten two tattoos related to him? You'll have to watch the full episode below to find out!
