E-40 debut Federal LP via Get On Down (2018 pressing)

Among the top recommended reissues is the just released vinyl version of  E-40,s classic Federal LP via Get On Down. Federal was the debut full-length album by Vallejo rap icon E-40 that was released, before signing with Jive, back in 1993 on Forty Wata's own pioneering indie Sick Wid It Records. In 1995 Jive Records would reissue the album but minus the original pressing tracks "Tanji II,” "Get Em Up" and "Rasta Funky Style.” The new Get On Down pressing has the tracking same as the Jive 1995 version. But what's cool about this release is that, besides the limited pressing and limited tracking promo 12" version by Sick Wid It via Solar Music back in '93, there was never a full vinyl version released before (just CD and cassette). E-40 vinyl collectors take note that still available is last October's SONY vinyl reissue of In A Major Way 2LP.

Run The Jewels  "Stay Gold (Smiff & Cash Remix Collection)" / Etched Red Colored 12"

Run The Jewels (aka  RTJ featuring Killer Mike and El-P) latest release is the above EP that features four tracks on Side A: "Kill Your Masters" (vocal and instrumental), and "Stay Gold (Smiff & Cash Remix)" vocal and instrumental.  Meanwhile the non-audio/art-only B-side of the 12” is etched art as seen left. The
12" with Marvel Variant Artwork package includes a gatefold cover and comes with a sticker set as seen in the image at top of this Amoeblog.

As fans of the super duo, who originally intended RTJ as a one-off collaboration, are well aware the original version of "Stay Gold" as well as "Kill Your Masters" can be found on the Run The Jewels third album RTJ3.  Vinyl collectors note that third RTJ full-length is still available in special pressing RTJ3 Gold Vinyl 2LP set. Additionally available from Amoeba in vinyl are both the first and the first RTJ vinyl 2LP set and the second RTJ2 vinyl 2LP set.

The Nonce 1990 /2LP (Family Groove)

Still available from Amoeba is this late April release of the lost Nonce album 1990 (also on CD) from Family Groove. The 2LP album is originally from the year its title references and captures the pioneering underground LA hip-hop duo, down with the Project Blowed collective, at a very early stage in their career. 1990 is the result of their very first recording sessions for a 14 track album that never got released, until now. Recorded by the then teenaged duo of Nouka Basetype (aka Sach) and the late Yusef “Afloat” Mohammed,  this almost album preceded The Nonce’s official debut album (World Ultimate) by five full years and their first single (“Picnic Song”) by two years.
