Siouxsie & The Banshees vinyl reissues

Be still, my dark heart. Eight classic (and impossible-to-find-on-vinyl) Siouxsie & the Banshees reissues are descending upon the aisles of Amoeba soon. Remastered from the original ¼” tapes and cut at half-speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studio, each album will arrive on sturdy 180-gram vinyl for your listening pleasure. The artwork and audio on these eight ultra-influential punk/post-punk/goth LPs have been approved by Siouxsie Sioux and Steve Severin. The first wave hits August 17 with the next batch to follow September 14, but you can pre-order them now on

Here's what makes each album essential listening:

The Scream

The Scream (1978)

Lyrically inspired by the works of J. G. Ballard and William Burroughs, the band's studio debut was an instant critical darling. Features Siouxsie & the Banshees' first hit, "Hong Kong Garden," and their ominous cover of "Helter Skelter." Coming 9/14.

Join Hands

Join Hands (1979)

Even more haunting and tightly wound than its predecessor, Join Hands draws inspiration from the horrors of World War I. It's the band's final album with guitarist John McKay. Coming 8/17.

Juju (1981)

The band's fourth LP features the unorthodox guitar stylings of the legendary John McGeoch and sees the band growing even more firmly established as one of the leading lights of the UK post-punk scene. Includes the two singles "Arabian Knights" and "Spellbound." Coming 8/17.

A Kiss in the Dreamhouse

A Kiss in the Dreamhouse (1982)

A Kiss in the Dreamhouse found the band experimenting with sound, incorporating strings, and playing around with vocal effects. The LP peaked at #11 on the UK album charts and is considered by some to have a psychedelic bent. Coming 9/14.

Tinderbox (1986)

Recorded at Berlin's Hansa by the Wall, and London's Matrix and Air Studios, Tinderbox peaked at #13 on the UK charts and #88 in the US. An established classic of the genre, Tinderbox contains the tracks "Cities in Dust," "Candyman," and "This Unrest." Coming 8/17.

Through the Looking Glass

Through the Looking Glass (1987)

Consisting entirely of covers, the band's eighth studio LP would be their second and final work with guitarist John Valentine Carruthers. Listen for reworked versions of classics by The Doors, Kraftwerk, Roxy Music, and Iggy Pop, among others. Coming 8/17.

Peepshow (1988)

Peepshow sees Siouxsie and co. getting glam, to great commercial success. The success of tracks like "Peek-a-Boo" and "The Last Beat of My Heart" catapulted the LP to #68 on the US charts and kept the album there for a solid twenty weeks. Coming 11/30.

Superstition (1991)

The band celebrated their tenth studio album by hitting the road as second headliners on the inaugural Lollapalooza. An expansion in their sound, the LP features the tabla-playing skills of Talvin Singh on "Kiss Them for Me" and "Silver Waterfalls." Coming 9/14.
