1: Blu & Exile In The Beginning: Before The Heavens (Dirty Science)

Ten years and a quarter years later Blu & Exile release In The Beginning: Before The Heavens: a sequelthat's technically a prequel to their landmark underground July 2007 debut Below The Heavens (also avail on vinyl/2LP set). The new October 2017 release by the super talented duo, comprised of emcee Blu and producer Exile, is 2007 material made up of both previously heard and previously unheard/unreleased material from the recording sessions that led up to their landmark debut a decade ago. Upon its release in 2007 Below The Heavens may have made little commercial impact but it did turn heads and win critical acclaim for Blu's clever, thought-provoking and uplifting conscious rhymes and Exile's hypnotically crunchy soul drenched beats. Combined the gifted pair effortlessly conjured the vibe of hip-hop's lamented bygone golden era: coming at a time when the bling era was still in swing.

In the ten years since Heaven would go on to be heralded by many as a true hip-hop classic, eventually garnering the wider recognition it initially deserved. Of course that was the whole concept of the album: about being underground and true to a genre that was all about paying respect to the art and shunning the superficial trappings of mainstream success. Released by Dirty Science In the Beginning: Before The Heavens features such fellow Dirty Science crew talents as Aloe Blacc, Lyric Jones, Trek Life, Donel SmokesCashus King (f.k.a. Co$$), Blame One and Dr. Oop on an album whose standout cuts include "Another Day," "Soul Provider, “Constellations (feat. Lyric Jones),” "Back To Basics" Life Is A Gamble (feat. Donel Smokes, Trek Life and Co$$) and “On the Radio.”  The perfect companion piece to Below The Heavens (as well as to the duo's 2012 release Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell them (also on viny/2LP set),  In The Beginning: Before The Heavens: is a must-get for both hip-hop fans who are longtime  Blu & Exile fans or for those who may have only recently discovered the talented duo.

2: Thavius Beck Technol O.G. LP (Hit & Run)

Technol O.G. LP  is another must-have album from the widely talented Minneapolis native Thavius Beck (aka Adlib) who moved to LA at age 16 and whose resume lists such titles as producer, remixer, emcee, and multi-instrumentalist as well as tech music teacher (Ableton being his specialty area) with a back catalog of solo albums for labels including Mush, Big Dada, Chambermusik and Plug Research that include such titles as Decomposition, Dialogue,  Most Beautiful Ugly., The HighWay  and Bad Newz : the latter two under his former Adlib alias. The new 2017 Thavius Beck album Technol O.G., that comes in special 12" kaleidoscopic colored vinyl, is a twelve song album featuring such tracks as "Suckas & Sycophants,"  "Shots Fired," "Word. Sound. Power," and the lead single “Spectacular Vernacular."

3: Sean Price Imperius Rex LP  also avail on CD (Duck Down)

Imperius Rex LP is the amazing posthumous album from the late great Sean Price who left us too soon two years ago at age 43. Although already released months ago by Duck Down Music in various formats including  on CD version that arrived into Amoeba back in August, this guest-heavy, fourth studio solo album by the artist is finally now widely available as vinyl version. The late Brooklyn NY MC's 2017 album's impressive long list of collaborators include DOOM, Prodigy, Styles P, Method Man, Raekwon and Bernadette Price who appears on the album track "Dead or Alive."

Another new 7" single arrival care of Fat Beats, and packaged  (in the Good Book theme) as Tabernacle Church Preach, is UK hip-hop producer Budgie's [not UK 70's hard rock act Budgie] double sided new 45 single.
