Fresh off their recent Dr. Octagon 20th anniversary reunion shows with Kool Keith (note new special Get On Down 3LP reissue of Dr Octagonecologyst coming this week, May 19) the two San Francisco talents of producer Dan The Automator andDJ Qbert are back collaborating sharing a hometown bill this week at the music meets live art event RE:CREATION. A joint presentation of Thud Rumble and Euphonic Creations and powered by (the wearable tactile audio technology) SubPac, also on the bill will be Qbert's longtime collaborator and fellow Invisibl Skratch Piklz member DJ Shortkut who'll be spinning an early eve all 45's set from 8pm to 10pm.

Additionally DeeJay Theory and Mophono will each be spinning sets. Meanwhile the live art portion of the event will provided by noted artists Sam Flores & Ronnie Budders  and Deb who contributed to the striking flyer art design for the event.  In addition to all the great artists listed on the above flyer there'll likely be some bonus suprise acts.  As per a social media post this afternoon from Euphonic Creations, "word on the street is that there will be some VERY special guests dropping in Thursday night !!" And late this afternoon Thud Rumble's Traci P confirmed that the special guest added to the bill will be Del The Funky Homosapien  Tix $20. 21+ 7pm Thursday, May 18th at the Great Northern at 119 Utah Street, San Francisco. Advance Tix and more info on event Facebook page.

Meanwhile back on the opposite coast in the Boogie Down Bronx, the birthplace of hip-hop music and culture, the legacy of one of the genre's pioneers will be  celebrated when NYC officials along with the Universal Hip-Hop Museum will be honor the late great Scott La Rock in a street naming ceremony, Taking place Friday afternoon at the intersection of Kingsbridge Road and Jerome Ave in the Bronx. There the Universal Hip-Hop Museum in association with the Office of NYC Councilmember Fernando Cabrera wil be host the street dedication ceremony to the legendary late founding member of Boogie Down Productions.

Frequently saluted in song by fellow BDP member KRS-One, back in 1987 a 25 year old Scott "La Rock" Sterling was shot and killed in cold blooded murder in a senseless dispute that reportedly escalated out of fellow BDP member D-Nice talking to someone's girlfriend at a party. Free and open to all ages (in a public place) the event will take place Friday May 19th at 2pm  on the corner of Kingsbridge Road and Jerome Avenue near the 4 train.

Among the new releases to arrive into Amoeba this past Friday, May 12th, were Bay Area rap talent
P-Lo's More Than Anything, Stik Figa's Central Standard Time and fellow Mello Music Group (MMG) artist Quelle Chris' new full-length Being You Is Great, I Wish I Could Be You More, plusB.o.B.'s Ether.  The formerly major label Atlanta artist on Atlantic Records, now self-released on his own ever-expanding indie label No Genre,  arrived with a bang on the scene seven years ago with his 2010 debut B.o.B.
