12 Albums to Watch For This Summer

Summer is in full swing, and the weather is hot -- but these albums might be even hotter! Check out our twelve albums to watch for this summer to create the perfect soundtrack for pool parties, road trips, and lazy days at the beach.

Hole - Live Through This

Hole - Live Through This

Out July 29

Hole's second album is finally getting a vinyl reissue! Never before available on wax in the US, the LP features some of the band's most-loved songs, "Miss World," "Doll Parts" and "Violet." Check out Courtney Love & co's classic video for "Doll Parts" below.

Cheena - Spend the Night With...

Cheena - Spend the Night with...

Out August 5

A very NYC, very glam take on garage, Cheena is a supergroup of the edgiest sort. Featuring Pharmakon's Margaret Chardiet and other Sacred Bones label-affiliated artists, Cheena play good ol' fashioned raucous, raw rock 'n' roll. Take a listen.

Dinosaur Jr.

Dinosaur Jr. - Give Me a Glimpse of What Yer Not

Out August 5

Dinosaur Jr. are back with their first LP since 2012's I Bet on Sky. Get it on limited edition translucent blue vinyl exclusively through Amoeba! Pre-orders for the blue vinyl have sold out online, but we'll have some available in our stores on August 5th. Lou Barlow, Murph and J Mascis are in top form on this one, as evidenced by the video for "Tiny" below.

Wild Beasts

Wild Beasts - Boy King

Out August 5

UK indie rockers Wild Beasts traveled to Texas to work with producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Modest Mouse, Swans) on Boy King. It's an ultra catchy, electronica-tinged affair, as evidenced by the video for "Get My Bang."

Blood Orange

Blood Orange - Freetown Sound

Out August 19

Named after Blood Orange mastermind Dev Hynes' father's hometown in Sierra Leone, Freetown Soul is a moving and lovely meditation on black life in today's tumultuous socio-political climate. The LP features guest appearances by Nelly Furtado and Debbie Harry. Get a glimpse of what's in store through the "Augustine" video.

Roosevelt - Roosevelt

Out August 19

Marius Laber makes buoyant, sun-kissed chillwave/disco on his self-titled debut LP as Roosevelt. Mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, TV on the Radio, Grizzly Bear), the album promises to be one of the most exciting dance releases of the year. You can preview the track "Fever" below.

Angel Olsen

Angel Olsen - My Woman

Out September 2

Angel Olsen returns with a new LP, partially recorded live in Los Angeles, and mixed by Justin Raisen (Sky Ferreira, Charli XCX). An expansion on her folk rock stylings, Olsen adds a bit of synthpop flair on tracks such as "The Intern."

Zomby - Ultra

Out September 2

British electronic artist Zomby returns to the much-revered Hyperdub label for the release of his latest, Ultra. The LP features appearances from fellow proponents of atmospheric dubstep Darkstar and Burial.

Allah-Las - Calico Review

Out September 9

LA garage rockers Allah-Las are partnering with Mexican Summer for the release of their latest LP. We're excited to announce that we'll have a special Amoeba exclusive on this one: namely, limited edition white vinyl. Take a listen below.

Nick Cave

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Skeleton Tree

Out September 9

The process of recording Nick Cave's sixteenth studio LP began in Brighton, UK in late 2014. The album release will be accompanied by a documentary called One More Time with Feeling, a feature-length documentary about the making of the album that will hit theatres around the same time.

Preoccupations - Preoccupations

Out September 16

The band formerly known as Viet Cong are back with a new album and a new name. Their post-punk sound is still as sharp and insistent as ever though, as evidenced by the sneak peak below. The band is knee deep in an extensive summer/fall tour to rep the LP.

Trentemoller - Fixion

Out September 16

Danish producer Trentemoller's latest LP is an exciting evolution from his earlier, more cinematic and moody work. Preview the icy, post-punk lead single "River in Me" at the end of this story. See if you can spot Savages' Jehnny Beth, who makes an appearance in the video.
