Longtime San Francisco nightclub Mighty has been recently sold and in the coming months will be temporarily shuttered when the popular 6000 square foot venue located between the Mission and Potrero Hill, that opened 13 years ago, will undergo a total makeover and remodeling of its current simple, warehouse like design. Then at a later still to be determined future date, it will reopen under a new name as a more upscale nightlife destination, one that reportedly will not likely not feature much or any hip-hop. In fact already it is phasing out its hip-hop themed events with tonight, April 15th 2016, being one of the very final ones (Warren G is booked for four weeks) at Mighty. And tonight's show will be a good one: one that will feature a grand finale 2 DJ / 4 turntable performance by DJ Shortkut (Invisibl Skratch Piklz / Beat Junkies / Triple Threat DJs) with Maseo of De La Soul that promises to be off the hook. The pair have shared a stage many times before. Back in 2011, along with Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest, they teamed up to perform the Heavy Boogie produced Adidas Originals Breathe & Stop Tour of Asia. In addition to Shortkut and Maseo,  also on tonight's bill will be longtime SF DJ Mr. E (Papalote Hi-Fi) who will do the opening set at 10pm, followed by Shortkut at 11pm, Maseo at midnight, and Maseo and Shortkut together on four turntables at 1am (all times approximate).  Tix from $8 to $15 available here. Tireless Bay Area promoter Fran Boogie, who will be hosting and handling "crowd control"  at tonight's show, estimates that over the years he's promoted or been part of in excess of 100 events at Mighty. "Mighty was unique to me because they were about booking quality talent, especially hip-hop DJ's. They invested heavily in the acts and people they booked. Most clubs focus on quantity but Mighty was, and has always been, about quality," he told the Amoeblog. "Their sound system kicked ass," he added thanking, "Carey and Sean for giving us a home [and] giving hip-hop and talented DJ's a place to play. I appreciate the opportunity to have 'played' at one of SF's legendary venues. Thank you Mighty! You'll be missed."

Shortkut + Maseo + Mr. E + Fran Boogie 10pm show tonight. 21+ Tix here.
Mighty is located at 119 Utah St. (between 15th & Alameda Streets)  San Francisco, CA 94103
