That old adage "do what you love" is perfectly applicable to the weed loving, nationally acclaimed prolific Bay Area rapper Berner. For the past decade plus this rap artist, weed activist/entrepreneur born Gilbert Anthony Mano has crafted a unique and phenomenally lucrative and fun career, all the while balancing his two main life passions of weed and rap music. Having built a strong rep as rap recording and performing artist, to date Berner's rich back catalog boasts 14 albums including his most recent full-length release found at Amoeba,  Drought Season 3, which is just one of many dropped on his own prolific Bern One Ent. record label. Equally respected by rap fans and peers, Berner's countless studio collaborations over the years include full length releases with such fellow Bay Area artists as Messy Marv, Equipto and the late great rapper The Jacka with whom he recorded the three part aforementioned Drought Season trilogy. Others in the really long list of Berner collabs include B-Real, Snoop Dogg, Nipsey Hussle, Young Thug, and Too $hort. Perhaps even more widely known in hip-hop is his longstanding relationship and collaborative work with Wiz Khalifa. Having been down since day one with the Pittsburgh, PA based, fellow weed loving hip-hop star Wiz Khalifa, the Bay Area artist counts himself as among those part of Khalifa's elite Taylor Gang Ent. label crew along with such others as Project Pat, Chevy Woods, Ty Dolla $ign, and Tuki Carter.

Even more impressive than Berner's rap accolades is how he has simultaneously managed to build a very lucrative career rooted in a multitude of legal weed ventures. These date back to him being the buyer for San Francisco's Cannabis Club to founding and co-owning the ever-expanding apparel and weed accessories company Cookies SF. In fact Berner is perhaps  the name most associated with that THC thick strain of cannabis. That's him you will see in those one page ads in the local weeklies for Cookies with the tag "Friends don't let friends smoke fake cookies." Then two years ago this Bay Area cannabis entrepreneur launched the organic herbal beverage line Hemp20. More recently he partnered to launch the website that's billed as a fusion of Yelp and Instagram for the medical marijuana community. Backstage at his concerts fans can buy special VIP passes to Berner's "Chief & Greets" in which they get to sit down and roll up with the weed man himself.

Marijuana Mania Episode 1

And if all of those previously listed  ain't enough, this week Berner unveiled the premiere episode of his new Marijuana Mania series. As you will see in the video above in this first installment he treks north to the Emerald Triangle to the Cookie Fam's large grow operation. Informative and insightful, Berner shares his personal knowledge and chops it up with the 3rd Generation Family crew during harvest season, all the while offering an insider's look at what goes into the creation of these never ending display of new CA strains. "The difference between Marijuana Mania and other marijuana shows is that we have access to people and places that no one else has. I have worked in this business for so long I know what's really going on," said Berner of his new series which he insists is less about the money and more about the culture and politics of the green. "We want to talk about the culture and all the innovative people, companies and products really driving it. It's been a dream to work on something that I'm truly passionate about….. my goal is to let everyone know what's going on in all the different states whether legal, medical, or all the way underground," he said of the new online shows first series.
