As you well know tomorrow - Saturday, April 18th - is Record Store Day 2015 and it is the one day that you must head to one of the three outlets of the world's largest independent record store - Amoeba Music - where we have some amazing RSD releases plus a ton of other stuff including in-stores sets ( and complimentary coffee, and announcement of the winner of the Pro-Ject Essential II turntable and a ton of choice vinyl. See full Amoeba Music RSD details here. As far as the special RSD releases - of which there are 500+ this year - some of the hip-hop ones include N.W.A.'s landmark Straight Outta Compton on cassette - with digital download card. To be best prepared for the rush and crowds of Record Store Day it is best to arrive at Amoeba prepared - knowing which specific RSD releases you want in advance of getting to the store. And you can study the full RSD 2015 releases list here.

Other Record Store Day exclusive releases include a 7" single in a unique star shape vinyl pressing of Black Star's (Mos Def and Talib Kweli) "Fix Up" with "You  Already  Knew" on the B side. Also pressed on odd shaped vinyl is the police badge styled pressing of J Dilla's "Fuck the Police." It is one of two Dilla 7" singles for RSD with the other one being a 45 of "Love." Then in 12" pressing - in split  yellow  and  black vinyl - is Wu-Tang Clan's "Protect  Ya  Neck" single. As far as in-store sets my recommendation is the 3pm DJ set from LA based beatmaker extraordinaire Knxwledge who many know from Low End Theory but most know from the track he produced for Kendrick Lamar's new album. I had the pleasure of interviewing yesterday for his amazing upcoming Stones Throw release Hud Dreems that drops in early May. He told me that Amoeba Hollywood, which is only ten minutes from where he lives, is one of his favorite places to go and that he has found some amazing gems in the 50 cent bins of Amoeba. Check him out at Amoeba Hollywood tomorrow at 3pm and pick up his album (2 vinyl set will have bonus tracks) when it drops in two weeks.

Coachella continues this week and into Sunday April 19th with many of the same performers at the big music festival in Indio CA last weekend there again this one. These include such of today's performers as Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Flying Lotus, Los Rakas, and Ab Soul. Same for tomorrow (Saturday) when artists performing will include Run The Jewels, and Gaslamp Killer. Then on Sunday (April 19th) Drake headlines the closing day of Coachella. More info and tix here

The big hip-hop show in the Bay Area this weekend is happening tonight in the South Bay with an impressive throw-back era, line-up that features Ice Cube, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Diplomats, E-40, Too Short, and Scarface all scheduled to perform at the SAP Center in San Jose, CA at 730pm this eve. Also tonight down in Santa Cruz at The Catalyst is Berner doing weed themed hip-hop tunes. Wale will be at the same seaside town venue next Friday night (April 24th). Upcoming shows recently announced include longtime Korean hip-hop act Epik High who return to the US for the first time in six years to play The Warfield in San Francisco on May 28th.  Formed at the start of the 2000's they've been credited with ushering in a new chapter of Korean hip-hop in Korea. They can also be credited with acting as ambassadors for Korean hip-hop which most American hip-hop fans are little aware of - not even the group's recently released  eight album Shoebox despite it having topped charts throughout Asia. Finally I leave you with two recent tracks by American emcees who've teamed up with European producers. In each case the result is refreshingly dope: Austrian producer Flip with Detroit mic wreckers Elzhi and Phat Kat from the album Reflections that features tons more US MCs,  and Sacramento rapper Chuwee with German producers JR & PH7.

JR & PH7 X Chuuwee  "Meadowview Morning (feat. Bueno & Sean LaMarr)" (Below System Records)

Flip "Without Warning (feat. Elzhi & Phat Kat)" (Adrenaline Records)
