Among the recent releases to arrive at Amoeba is M.O.P.'s Street Certified, which was released earlier this week by Nature Sounds as a digital download. The new nine track EP from the two-decade strong influential Brooklyn rap duo (whose name stands for Mash out Posse) features such tracks as "187," "Broad Daylight (featuring Busta Rhymes),"  and the Street Certified title track with Queens hip-hop duo Mobb Deep. The EP is executive produced by DJ Premier and is just one of two new releases from the duo. The other will be a special box set retrospective entitled 20 Years And Still Gunnin: The Ammo Box.

If you are in the Bay Area and missed DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist's recent all vinyl Afrika Bambaataa record collection-themed Renegades of Rhythm tour when it stopped at the Mezzanine two months ago (I checked it out and it was off the hook!), you will have another chance to catch the two noted Cali DJs/producers/vinyl collectors when their openers will be Dam-Funk and Davey D at the Fox Theatre in Oakland on Tuesday, November 25th at 8pm. Tickets here.

The following night is another good night to go out. Among the events jumping off are Common with Jay Electronica opening at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco on Wednesday, November 26th at 8pm. Traditionally the Pirate DJs would throw their popular dance parties on this night before Thanksgiving, but this year it is on Thanksgiving Day when they join forces with Personal Touch to present the Cream Of Beat Reunion. As well as the Pirate DJs' Mind Motion, Ivan, and Dark Money spinning older music (as in pre-2000) along with special guest DJs Apollo, Fuze, D-Sharp, Scotty Foxx, and Malachi, there will also be a special performance by Too $hort. The godfather of Oakland rap will be performing a set that will include such classic hits as "Freaky Tales," "Life Is...Too Short," and "Short But Funky." Thursday, Novemeber 27th at the Mezzanine, 444 Jessie St, San Francisco, CA. 9pm til after-hours. Get tix here. Note that the night before Thanksgiving, RiFF RAFF will be at the Mezzanine.

Tonight (Saturday, November 22nd) Live Human will be playing a rare show at Special Tech DJ in San Bruno. The turntablist-themed jazz trio consisting of DJ Quest, Andrew Kushin (bass), and Albert Mathias (percussion) will do a freeform session (always great) at the DJ school / performance space set up by DJ Cue who is DJ Quest's partner in his other longtime group the Space Travelers (formerly Bullet Proof Scratch Hamster). If you cannot make it to the space located at 572 San Mateo Ave in San Bruno you can tune in online via the live stream with multi-camera views at 7pm (PST).

In more new hip-hop music news, here are a selection of videos from artists including Wara From the NBHD and the Pittsburgh, PA five member crew Bilderburgh consisting of Crumb, Blender, Traxx, Raspy, and Rambo who are joined by Cali's Planet Asia as guest on the track "The Dark" off their jrecently released debut album Speak Easy.

Also featured is REKS & Hazardis Soundz' "Eyes Intro" from their collaborative album Eyes Watching God, the new Mello Music Group release from the crew Diamond District, comprised of Oddisee, yU, and Uptown XO, for their song "A Part Of It All" in which they live up to their promise of keeping that grimy East Coast hip-hop alive and well, and the P.Diddy/Biggie themed tribute "Diddy Smalls" by Supakali, Perrion, and Slim Dollars.
