The Theatre at Ace Hotel in Downtown L.A.

A new film festival called Sundance NEXT FEST celebrates the intersection of music and film at the brand new Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles from Aug. 7-10. Tickets can be picked up here.

The whole thing kicks off Aug. 7 with Cinespia screening Napoleon Dynamite at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, starting at 8:30 p.m. Pick up tickets here.

On Aug. 8 at The Theatre at Ace will be a screening of the horror-comedy Life After Beth, starring Aubrey Plaza, followed by a performance by Father John Misty. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased here.

On Aug. 9, there are three events. First off at 1 p.m. is a screening of Kumiko the Treasure Hunter, a film about a Japanese woman who becomes convinced a fictional satchel of money is real and sets off to find it. The screening will include a conversation with the filmmakers, David and Nathan Zellner, plus guest panelist and filmmaker Werner Herzog (Into the Abyss). Tickets are $15.

Then at 4:45 p.m. on Aug. 9, the film Listen Up Philip will be screened along with filmmaker Alex Ross Perry, star Jason Schwartzman and author Bret Easton Ellis (American Pyscho). The film follows a newly accomplished writer who must deal with the mistakes and miseries those around him are facing. Tickets are $15.

Finally, at 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 9 will be a screening of the film Imperial Dreams, along with a performance by up-and-coming R&B singer Tinashe. The film follows a 21-year-old reformed gangster after his release from prison as he is sent back to his family in Watts. The screening will be preceded by a showing of a short film comissioned by rapper Kendrick Lamar called m.A.A.d. Tickets are $25.

On Sunday Aug. 10, the festival will feature two events. First at 4 p.m. is a screening of The Guest, about a soldier on leave who faces suspicion when people in his town start mysteriously dying. The screening will be accompanied by a discussion with filmmaker Adam Winguard and director Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive). Tickets are $15.

Finally at 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 10 will be a screening of the film A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night along with a performance by Warpaint. The film is about an Iranian ghost town that is being stalked by a lonesome vampire. Tickets are $25.
