Amoeba is proud to be a sponsor of Joe Driscoll and Sekou Kouyate with folk singer/songwriter Vikesh Kapoor at Grand Performances in Downtown Los Angeles on Friday, August 15 at 8 p.m. As always with Grand Performances, the show is free. You can RSVP on Facebook here.

Joe Driscoll Sekou Kouyate Faya

Syracuse-born Driscoll is an American musician who uses everything but the kitchen sink in his songwriting, employing acoustic guitar, loops, beatboxing and rapping in his music, which fuses elements of rock, reggae, soul and folk. Guinea-born Kouyate is a virtuosic kora player from a lineage of famous players of the classical African stringed instrument. The album, Faya, released this year, sees the two collaborating as Driscoll spits verses over Kouyate’s lightning-fast riffs and velvety vocal tones.

Additionally, on Sunday, August 17 at 3 p.m. and again at 4:30 p.m., Amoeba is co-sponsoring Sock Puppet Sitcom Theater’s Jack and the Beanstalk. The Sock Puppet Theater takes on the children's classic with their own brand of silly humor. RSVP on Facebook for both shows here.

We’ll be on hand with our prize wheel for charity. Come by with the kids, give it a spin and say hello!

Grand Performances takes place at California Plaza in Downtown L.A. Find out more about the event on Grand Performances' website.
