Julieta Venegas

Multi-Grammy Award winning Mexican pop star Julieta Venegas recently released her sixth studio album, Los Momentos, an 11 song journey into '80s influenced dance beats with her signature pop sensibilities. From stories of drug violence to cheating lovers, Julieta cleverly manages to take melancholy content and transform it into an appealing sound easily consumed by the masses. Julieta VenegasShe is one of contemporary music's most eclectic pop artists. The music she currently makes is light years away from her early contributions as a member of the '90s Mexican ska-punk band, Tijuana No!

Amoeba cameras caught up with Julieta on a recent visit to our Hollywood store and she gave us a little insight into why her musical output tends to be so eclectic. She is a big fan of electro/dream-pop artist Youth Lagoon. She is also a classically trained piano player and gravitates to the sounds of Chilly Gonzalez and his Solo Piano works. From French house music producer Kavinsky to British soul singer Laura Mvula, Julieta listens to it all! Check out another memorable episode of What's In My Bag? with Julieta Venegas.
