MuseMuseThe Second Law – Oct. 2
The Britpop group turned arena rockers’ next album may have an electro edge, given its first single, “Madness.”

van morrisonVan MorrisonNo Plan B – Oct. 2

django djangoDjango DjangoDjango Django – Oct. 9
British band Django Django makes excellent psych-pop inspired by the likes of The Beta Band and Blur, incorporating African-inspired beats amid pulsing synths and post-punk guitars. Check them out live at Amoeba Music San Francisco Sept 25 at 6 p.m., and check back on my blog for an interview with the band before the show.

tame impalaTame ImpalaLonerism – Oct. 9
Aussie psych-rockers Tame Impala’s first album, InnerSpeaker, was just awesome. Lonerism sounds like it may be even better, given its heavy, heady first single, “Elephant.” It’s so rad that Todd Rungren remixed it, and that remix is even RADDER.

ty segall twinsTy SegallTwins – Oct. 9
I write about this guy all the time. He rules. Check out my interview with him here.

ben gibbardBenjamin GibbardFormer Lives – Oct. 16
Oh, so we’re “Benjamin” Gibbard now? In a “Deborah Gibson” moment, Benjamin Gibbard is reverting to his birth-certificate first name and releasing his first solo album after years spent taking twee to the mainstream with Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service. First single “Teardrop Windows” is more Photo Album than Give Up, though actually it’s more alt-country-sounding than anything Gibbard has released thus far.

pinbackPinbackInformation Retrieved – Oct. 16
Yes! A new Pinback album. It has most of the songs released on the Information Retrieved EPs (for Record Store Day 2011), plus seven new ones. Now please excuse me while I listen to “Tripoli” and weep nostalgic tears for my collegiate youth.

mac demarco 2Mac DeMarco2 – Oct. 16
The intensely loveable lo-fi singer-songwriter is set to release his second effort of the year after the excellent Rock & Roll Night Club. 2 looks to be a refinement of his sound.

ben harper by my sideBen HarperBy My Side – Oct. 16
Career retrospective from the acoustic-based singer-songwriter. Check out a playlist of some of Harper’s best-known songs.

bat for lashes the haunted manBat For LashesThe Haunted Man – Oct. 23
To say this one’s anticipated would be understating it. The promise of her previous work looks to be fulfilled with the sure-to-be-excellent The Haunted Man. Why am I so sure that it’ll be great? Besides that her other albums also ruled, she’s released three songs from The Haunted Man and they’re all awesome. The video for the aching “Laura” is below; if you don’t feel like crying, check out the Monroe-name-checking “Marilyn” or synth-poppy “All Your Gold.”

taylor swiftTaylor SwiftRed – Oct. 23
This newcomer has really had a rough time getting noticed, hopefully Red gets her on the radio.

titus andronicus local businessTitus AndronicusLocal Business – Oct. 23
Watch this fun video of the band talking about their new album, the follow-up to the fearsome The Monitor.

the soft moon zerosThe Soft MoonZeros – Oct. 30
Awesome S.F.-based post-punk band The Soft Moon are back with another album after the breathy, scary nighttime music of their self-titled debut.
