Amoeba Music Berkeley Hip-Hop Top Five: 06:03:12

1) El-P Cancer4Cure (Fat Possum)

2) Killer MIke R.A.P. Music (William Street)

3) J Stalin The Body Snatchers (CR)

4) Cadence Weapon Hope In Dirt City (Upper Class Records)

5) BPos Pos Tapes Volume 3 (One League)

Thanks to E-Lit at Amoeba Music Berkeley for the latest Amoeba Hip-Hop Top Five chart and new releases overview that include the two El-P albums Cancer4Cure on Fat Possum which is his own first full solo length album in several years which as E-Lit notes in video above, is dedicated to his friend/lebel-mate/fellow band member the late Camu Tao who died four years ago at age 30 from lung cancer (hence the title), and the highly recommended album R.A.P. Music on William Street that El-P produced for Killer Mike - both of which are among the best albums released this year so far. Although technically mostly a collection of previous year releases that new Madlib Medicine Show The Brick box set with all 13 CDs (and nicely priced at $95) is another great new arrival in Amoeba that E-Lit outlines in the video above that compiles all of the super-talented producer's Medicine Show installments - the ambitious once a month release series he unleashed in 2010.

J Stalin "Ball Hard" from The Body Snatchers (2012)

Today, Sunday June 3rd, from noon to 8pm the longtime Oakland hip-hop Hieroglyphics collective are having a concert/warehouse sale tagged Diggin In The Crates at the North Oakland Hiero HQ with lots of music (vinyl, CDs, etc) and clothing items for sale and live hip-hop music.

The announcement says that the are "selling all our inventory" so there might be some hella cool items from the internationally well loved East Bay based hip-hop family that bears that simple yet instantly recognizable infamous Hiero logo that was designed by Del The Funky Homosapien over two decades ago. For more info on address and performers and items for sale click here.

Nio Tha Gift "Rest In Peace DJ Screw" (2012)

Above is the brand new video, produced by Thizzler on the Roof, by versatile Richmond rapper Nio Tha Gift who is on the verge of blowing up big time. And finally below I leave you with the brand new music video (as in unveiled earlier today, June 3rd 2012) from Dopestyle for his Mr Ketamine produced song "Mr Zilla Breath" taken from the super-talented albeit mostly slept-on underground hip-hop artist's Soundtrack 4 Da Endtimes EP. The minimalist dark Hector Hernan produced video is the perfect visual accompaniment to the song that Dopestyle says, "was inspired by the indie films Call Me Hell Dog, Black Chasm Dire, and I Stand Alone. All three are pretty heavy in terms of the bleak, depressing tone conveyed in each film." To keep up with Dopestyle check out his Facebook page. Thanks for reading and see you at Amoeba!
