Amoeba Music San Francisco Weekly Hip-Hop Top Five Chart: 11:05:10

Celph Titled & Buckwild
1) Celph Titled & Buckwild
Nineteen Ninety Now (No Sleep Recordings)

2) Madlib Medicine Show No.10-Black Soul (Stones Throw)

3) N*E*R*D Nothing (Star Trak)

4) Jneiro Jarel Fauna (Kindred Spirits)

5) Pitbull Armando (Mr. 305 Inc.)

Lots of new releases on this latest chart, care of Luis at the San Francisco Amoeba store, including in the number one slot Celph Titled & Buckwild's Nineteen Ninety Now on No Sleep Recordings. It finds the perfect pairing of the famed D.I.T.C. DJ & producer Buckwild with the Florida emcee Celph Titled (of the Demigodz and Army of the Pharaohs fame) and the results are most impressive. Killer production plus lots of tasty cutting and scratching (care of Mista Sinista of X-Ecutioners) perfectly compliment Celph Titled and the other emcees (many fellow D.I.T.C. folks) that guest throughout the 16 track CD, including Sadat X, Grand Puba, AG, Diamond D, Treach (Naughty By Nature), R.A. The Rugged Man, Apathy, Chino XL, and Vinnie Paz of Jedi Mind Tricks. Lyrically, Celph bears it all and tells it like it is (and was), even addressing his bygone beef with Cage from a decade ago.

Nothing (Star Trak) is N*E*R*D*'s fourth studio album and since its release on Tuesday it's been creating a buzz. The single "Hot-N-Fun (featuring Nelly Furtado)," which came out at the start of the N*E*R*Dsummer, is included here along with thirteen other tracks that collectively take a slight departure from their first three albums (2001's In Search Of..., 2004's Fly Or Die, and 2008's Seeing Sounds). Here Pharrell, Chad and Shae up the ante with a diverse range of contemporary-sounding tracks that include the guaranteed dancefloor mega-hit "Dance Floor (feat. T.I.)," the Doors-influenced "Help Me," the modern RnB sounding "Nothing On You," and the Daft Punk produced second single "Hypnotize U."

Five years after his debut album, Three Piece Puzzle, Jneiro Jarel is back with the new, dreamy sounding Brazilian-inspired album, Fauna, which is themed around the many endangered plant and wildlife species in Brazil -- hence the numerous Amazon and rainforest sounds, like tropical bird calls, sampled on the album. The other new Amoeba chart entries this week are Madlib's Medicine Show No.10-Black Soul (Stones Throw), which is essentially a classic soul mixtape from the crate digger, and the latest from Latin hip-hopper Pitbull, Armando (Mr. 305 Inc.), which is the artist's all Spanish language album.

Roach Gigz "Can I Rap" (2010)

San Quinn "Black and Orange" (2010)

Above is the San Quinn song "Black and Orange" featuring other SF rappers Big Rich, Cellski, DaVinci & Roach Gigz in honor of the new World Series champions the San Francisco Giants! It's an San Francisco Giantsamazing feat for the team, and, as you know if you've been in the Bay lately, an incredibly joyous and exciting time for fans.

The Giants last won the Series in 1954 when they were in New York. They moved west four years later. Already fans are predicting a repeat for 2011! Go Giants! Also above, and in the same SF Giants mania vein, is the brand new video from Roach Gigz, "Can I Rap," which was filmed outside the stadium of the World Series champs.

As a sort of warm-up to the release of longtime NYC hip-hop artist J-Live's forthcoming fifth full length album, the label that's putting it out, Triple Threat Productions, is releasing the artist's fourth EP, titled Undivided Attention. It's a six song release with production by the artist himself plus Floyd The Locsmif, Nicolay of Foreign Exchange, 808 Blake of SMKA and in-house label producer Korede. Guest vocalists include Boog Brown, Homeboy Sandman and Oddy Gato. For more info on this release and other artist info visit the J-Live site.

Richmond, CA rapper/producer Erk Tha Jerk will be releasing his anticipated official debut album, Nerd's Eye View (Red Planet), next Tuesday (Nov 9th). Check back here for an Amoeblog interview J-Livewith the popular Bay Area artist. Yesterday rapper Lil Wayne got released from Rikers Island jail in New York after serving eight months of his one year term, the last month of which he spent in solitary.

It's already been talked & blogged about quite a bit, but be sure to tune in to NBC on Monday (Nov 8th) at 8pm to the Special Primetime Matt Lauer Reports to see former president George W Bush's full interview with Matt Lauer. In it, he identifies the single worst moment of his entire presidency (as written in his upcoming memoir Decision Points). He says the "all-time low" point was when Kanye West went off prompter at that Hurricane Katrina telethon and declared, "George Bush doesn't care about black people."

Pigeon John, whose great new album, Dragon Slayer, came out on Quannum Projects three weeks ago, is currently on a national tour with Quannum-affiliated artist DJ Shadow for the next few weeks. They play at DJ Shadowthe House of Blues in Dallas, TX tonight. Also on the road currently is Saigon (as seen on HBO TV show Entourage playing himself) along with Swollen Members. The tour arrives at the Key Club in West Hollywood , CA on Wednesday, November 10th and two days later (Nov 12) at The Rockit Room in San Francisco. Tonight (Nov 5th) in San Francisco is the Mixcrate one year anniversary party at Eve Lounge with DJs Platurn, Scotty Fox, Mr E, Owlboogie. and Cutso.

The ever-busy DJ Cutso is also spinning at another one year anniversary party in SF tonight along with DJ A-Ron: the first Friday monthly FML (Fuck My Life) which happens at Sloane.
Statik Selektah & Termanology & Lil' Fame "Things I Dream" live @ SOB's (2010)

Above is some raw video footage, recorded last week at SOB's in NYC, of Statik Selektah & Termanology performing "Things I Dream" alongside Lil' Fame of M.O.P. fame from their about-to-drop new album 1982. The concert was the official record release party for the collaborative album that arrived in Amoeba Music last Tuesday. Also available at Amoeba is the new vinyl release from Z-Man and JtheSarge, 'On A Hunt For A Show' on M9. Featuring the always brilliant lyrical wordplay of San Francisco emcee Z-Man (Gurp City, One Block Radius, Hieros, etc), it is produced by JtheSarge, who most know as part of the group Magic Heart Genies (along with Myka 9 and DJ Drez). The single's B side features input from Dan The Automator, Big Pers, and Matt Gamin.
And finally, I leave you with the brand new video by refreshingly unique Queens, NY emcee Homeboy Sandman for his song "Calm Tornado" off his current recommended album The Good Sun -- one of the best albums of the year, and one that explores new areas rather than recycling the same old, same old.
