John Hodgman is a bestselling American author, actor, humorist, The Daily Show's "Resident Expert," and deranged millionaire. He has also been the Humor Editor for The New York Times Magazine, host of the Little Gray Book Lectures heard on This American Life, advice columnist for McSweeney’s, comic book reviewer for the New York Times Book Review, and is currently a certified judge for Maximum Fun's podcast series, Judge John Hodgman.

Born and raised near Boston, MA, Hodgman graduated from Yale University with a degree in literature. He moved to New York and worked as a literary agent prior to releasing his own books. In 2005, Hodgman released The Areas of My Expertise (Dutton), a book of complete world knowledge entirely made up by the author. Hodgman first appeared as a guest on The Daily Show in 2005 promoting The Areas of My Expertise, and has since become a contributor and "Resident Expert" on the program. Dutton published the second book in his trilogy, More Information Than You Require, in October 2008. Containing more made up trivia and beginning on page 237 (as a continuation of the previous book), More Information Than You Require became a New York Times bestseller. In November, 2011, Hodgman's final entry in his trilogy of Complete World Knowledge, That is All (Dutton), was published, beginning, of course, with page 596. Hodgman visited Amoeba Hollywood for a book signing on November 14, 2012.

In addition to his books, Hodgman has appeared on television as an actor and voice actor, including representing a PC computer in Apple's long-running "I Am a Mac" campaign. He has also appeared in Flight of the Conchords, Battlestar Galactica, Bored to Death, The Venture Bros., and Delocated. On June 19, 2009, Hodgman served as headline speaker at the Radio and Television Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, D.C., joking that President Obama was the country's first "nerd president."
