The Bronx [IV] (CD)
The Bronx
Amoeba Review
01/28/2013
The Bronx have been busy as of late, releasing a couple albums as their Mariachi alter ego Mariachi El Bronx, including its second album as MEB in 2011. Now they’re back under their original moniker, releasing a fourth album of fast-paced hook-laden hardcore punk. “Too Many Devils” finds the band glad to rock out once again, as frontman Matt Caughthran screeching “I’ve got too many devils!” over his band’s gasoline-soaked mayhem. “Youth Wasted” is more melodic, pulling off the feat of sounding poised for modern rock radio and pleasing indie kids with its dynamic charge, capable of pleasing both Foo Fighters and Titus Andronicus fans. The appropriately titled “Ribcage” aims for the gut with maximum three-chord din. It’s altogether an extraordinarily positive and inspiring listening experience for anyone looking to rock out with their brain intact. Viva El Bronx!
