Tell Me (CD)
Jessica Lea Mayfield
Amoeba Review
Thomas Germain, Hollywood 02/11/2011
This is the second album that Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys has produced for the 21-year-old Jessica Lea Mayfield, and it's easy to see why he continues to work with her. Mayfield's hauntingly beautiful lyrics are paralleled only by the sweet sound of her Ohio drawl, and her performances are heartfelt and unbelievable. With Auerbach's masterful production leading the way, Tell Me glides effortlessly between country, folk, and indie rock, and it will break your heart every time you hear it. After listening to this album, I plan on buying everything that Jessica Lea Mayfield ever puts out. The vinyl comes with a CD copy of the album.

While I loved Jessica's first album, I'm glad she didn't repeat herself here on Tell Me. This record is much more varied in instrumentation and has several upbeat songs. I love how her songs pull you in like you have known her for years and her adorable Midwestern drawl doesn't hurt either.
