Stronger (CD)
Kate Earl
Amoeba Review

In between music lessons and pumping gas at her parents' gas station in Chugiak, Alaska, young Kate Earl dreamed of being a star. That dream came true the minute she hit L.A., with a debut pop album on Universal and lots of TV placements. But she felt all the big-time push wasn't really getting to the heart of the music she wanted to play, so she took a step back, woodshedded with folks like Blake Mills and Brett Dennen, and now she's back on Downtown Records with her serious debut, Stronger. It was worth the wait! These are gloriously high-flying tunes, with a jangly rock groove that sounds and feels just like classic Fleetwood Mac. Debut single "One Woman Army" is sure to be a big hit in the tradition of Stevie Nicks or Kim Carnes or Linda Ronstadt, a stomping declaration of the power of a woman's love. Her new rock direction is the perfect showcase for her pure, piercing voice, which soars and coos to stunning effect. Fresh, rockin', fun and powerful, and the retro twist really does it for me. I have a feeling it's gonna be doing it for stadiums full of fans soon...
