Silver Apples (CD)
Silver Apples
Amoeba Review
Tiffany Anders 10/19/2010
The 1960s electronic band Silver Apples were shamefully overlooked in their heyday. Fortunately, their music was recently rediscovered and proves to be way ahead of its time. Their two first albums, Silver Apples and Contact, are combined on this reissue, and it is full of far-out synthesizer experimentation and primitive explorations into psychedelia, which still sounds fresh all these years later. Songs like “Program” and “Oscillations” prove them to be pioneers of electronic music whether they were aware of it or not. Any fan of punk/new wave and electronic music should definitely seek this release out as it truly breaks new ground.
