This is a hard to find book! The Rolling Stones are broken into four parts, all of which are taken in 1963. Pictures of the first part taken on the walls of the Thames, five days after they signed with Andrew Loog Oldham. This is the first time they had ever been photographed together. Andrew Loog Oldham had requested that the photographs show the band to look mean and nasty.
From Twiggy to The Beatles. Philip Townsend’s photographs capture the sixties as they swung. Documenting the people, the style and musical revolution, the vibrant collection of images, including The Rolling Stones’ first ever photo shoot, demonstrates how close to the action the photographer was.
"A treasure trove of rock history" - The London Times
