Intricate, full band arrangements abound on this record – which is no surprise since frontman – Dave Longstreth undoubtedly sees himself as a composer as much as a songwriter. Bitte Orca doesn’t switch up the formula from previous release Rise Above but it certainly shows growth in both Longstreth as a songwriter and the band’s instrumental virtuosity. Without losing their art pop edge – Dirty Projectors have made a simply enjoyable pop record.
