Major Lazer
Guns Don't Kill People...Lazers Do
(Downtown Records)

Producers Diplo and Switch bring out the crazy mashed-up dancehall style fresh sauce! If you love M.I.A. and you love to dance — let’s go. Playful and energetic. This joynt is jumpin’. – Karen, Hollywood
Diplo and Switch whump down their megarockin’ tribute to classic dancehall with Major Lazer! The GI-Joe-like fictional titular hero lost his arms in the Zombie Wars of 1984, replaced with bad-guy killing lazers courtesy of the U.S. Army (in the great tradition of zany sci-fi reggae obsessions from Scientist vs. the Space Invaders to Lee Scratch Perry’s Super Ape). Of course the beats are slammin’ – these are the guys who brought you M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes.” But they also rock the mic with an amazing lineup of great Jamaican emcees from Vybz Kartel to Mr. Vegas! The result is an outerspace Kingston party with electropop nuggets like the club-ready “Hold the Line” and “Keep It Going Louder.” Guns don’t kill people, this album do!
