Black Rio Vol. 2
Various Artists
(Red Merch)
For all fans of great soul music with a cool “Brasileiro” twist, this record is for you. Compiled by London’s DJ Cliffy, this is a fun record full of high energy, funky grooves, and bright tropical sounds that can only come from that region of the world. Black Rio 2 gives the listener a good sound perspective of the “samba soul” music scene that came out of Rio de Janeiro from 1968-1981. Worth checking out…and worthy of standing next to any other funk soul collections of its time. For all collectors of seriously funky soul music, it’s a must have. - Rich Santos, Hollywood

While Black Rio Vol. 1 brought together pioneers of the movement like Tim Maia and Gerson King Combo, Volume 2 digs deeper still, exploring more of the key artists and many of the short-lived bands and smaller labels of the time.
