AUZA
Musically Invalid.

  • Why? - Elephant Eyelash
These lyrics and I are getting married in an amusement park on Jupiter.
  • Silver Sun Pickups - Pikul e.p.
    Cordial to exuberant drunk girls.
  • Broken Social Scene and Metric - both their new albums
I’m a sucker for those Canadians.
  • Calla - Collisions
    I don’t know... it’s good melancholy make-out music.
  • I Am Curious Yellow/Blue - Criterion DVD
I’d always heard this was some scandalous Swedish porn; in fact, it’s like a slapstick faux political documentary with very awkward sex on the side. It rules.

  • Kate Bush - Aerial
After such a long wait, Kate Bush releases this brilliant double album. A must have!
  • New Pornographers - Twin Cinema
Nothing can top this pop gem. The best happy record of 2005.
  • Queen - A Night at the Opera
How many times did I listen to this tape in my crappy car back in the day? Now it’s remastered and dolled-up in new packaging. Revisit this rock classic!!
  • Magic Numbers - s/t
A really nice pop record that happens to be on a major label.
  • Mum - Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK
My other favorite re-release of the year. I saw these guys play this entire album live in London at the Barbican, and it was amazing. One of those special concert moments. Now I can listen to it over and over!
  • Dolly Parton - Essential Dolly Parton
Two discs of pure country fun! If you need a little light in your life, this is sure to put a smile on your face. From ‘Coat of Many Colors’ to ‘Here You Come Again,’ it’s packed with hillbilly hits.

Other Stuff: Cat Power and Mum live at the Barbican in London, Tender Forever, my late discovery of Susumu Yokota,Tristeza - Colores, Bruce Springsteen Born to Run Re-issue, and the following DVDs: 2046, Crash, Happy Endings & Six Feet Under - Season 4.

JONATHAN MAGUIRE

  • The Flakes - Back to School
When it comes to rock & roll, The Flakes are numero uno. Every track is a killer.Absolutely essential for any true fan of rock & roll.

In no particular order….some new, some not:

  • Faine Jade Introspection - Recital
This has been my road trip cd for a couple months now. It’s nice.
  • Dizzy Gillespie/Charlie Parker - Town hall, New York City, June 22nd, 1945
    Sabroso!
  • Paul Weller - As Is Now
  • Pink Floyd - Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (Mono)
The mono re-issue on vinyl, there is a CD out there too. The mono mix sounds really good to me…
  • Tim Cavanaugh - 99 Dead Baboons
Ever since I heard the hidden track on Controller 7’s Christmas album where he sampled this track, I’ve been addicted to it.

Tip: Watch for Amoeba’s own Tiny Buttons at a club near you. He sings the songs of Don Ho with a Reggae beat. Not to be missed
