Michael Monroe - Biography



Michael Monroe is a Finnish rock musician who was the frontman and mulit-instrumentalist for influential Finnish glam rock band Hanoi Rocks from 1979-1984. After the demise of Hanoi Rocks, Monroe relocated to New York City and launched a succesful solo career with his first album Not Fakin' It (1989). In 1994, Monroe reuinited with Hanoi Rocks bass player Sami Yaffa on the new project, Demolition 23. Monroe has continued releasing solo albums, including 2011's Sensory Overdrive, which also featured Yaffa and won Album Of The Year at the Classic Rock Magazine awards.

Sami Yaffa is a Finnish bass guitarist best known for his time in Hanoi Rocks. After the demise of Hanoi Rocks, Yaffa moved to Los Angeles and joined the band Jet Boy. Yaffa later played with Johnny Thunders, Jerry Nolan, spent a short time in Hardcore punk band Murphy's Law, toured with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and did a stint in the New York Dolls. Yaffa later moved to New York City to reconnect with longtime friend and former bandmate Michael Monroe. Yaffa also plays in his own band Mad Juana, and is releasing a collection of paintings and working on an autobiography.
