Loma Vista (CD)
Family Of The Year
Amoeba Review
10/29/2012
The brothers Keefe have been kicking around in bands for many years now, and they've finally landed in L.A. and come up with the perfect combination, Family of the Year. It's nice to hear a band bust out of the gate with such a classic sound -- sunny, deceptively simple riffs, yearning, expressive energy, and jangly boy-girl harmonies that remind me of nothing so much as Fleetwood Mac. Though only keyboardist/vocalist Christina Schroeter is originally from southern California, they've clearly tapped into the local songwriting vibe. Loma Vista is a great Pacific wave of ascending and descending melodies, well-constructed and generous with the ecstatic vocal highs. Classic radio-friendly, emotionally rich jangle-pop, the kind you never get tired of. Read More
