My Rocks Are Dreams (CD)
Psychic Friend
Amoeba Review
02/11/2013
One-man pop dynamo Will Schwartz is back! Those who know and love the off-kilter emotional power-pop of Imperial Teen or Hey! Willpower are already kicking off their shoes and heading for the dancefloor to boogaloo to his newest sound. He's switched from guitar to piano, which gives his tunes more of an Elton John / Billy Joel bittersweet plonk, but as always he busts out with one high-flying, super satisfying pop joy after another, exploring the weirdness of romantic relationships and giving voice to his psychic longings. Ex-Hole drummer Patty Schemel lays down the backbeat. On Dangerbird, home of the Silverlake sound and like-minded party people Fitz & the Tantrums and Butch Walker.
