Ecstatic Trance (CD)
A Life Once Lost
Amoeba Review
10/22/2012
Alright, it's been 5 years since Philly metalcore kings A Life Once Lost slaughtered this generation with their epic Iron Gag, and we've waited plenty long for them to blast back and kick all those wimpus wannabes off the djent throne. And their new one truly does! Conveying infinite, lightless volumes of death and fury like few sub-Meshuggah bands can, ALOL have focused their approach, shedding the occasional southern metal textures of their older work for the atonal, circular churn of the endless trance. An unstoppable headbanging death crawl, with head screamer Bob Meadows spitting insanity like a straitjacketed demon the entire time. If you thought life was once lost, strap on the headphones for this one -- it shall be well and truly lost.
