M.U.: The Best of Jethro Tull (CD)
Jethro Tull
Amoeba Review
Joanna Ricco 05/26/2010
Considering that nearly all of Jethro Tull’s releases are concept albums dependent on sequential listening for full effect, tearing pieces apart in favor of culling a “best of” compilation would seem a questionable, if not daunting task. Yet “M.U.” The Best of Jethro Tull delivers a fine lineup of the songs associated with the group via radio play such as “Aqualung,” “Thick as a Brick,” and “Bungle in the Jungle.” In short: It works. As prog rock pioneers who dropped loftier concepts (hard guitar and flute) on pop rock sedated ears back in the day, this album is a fine addition to a radio-borne fan’s collection.
