November 8th, 2007 - Hollywood

In celebration of this historic release Amoeba Music will host a musical tribute to the man who defined a new genre that he called, "Cosmic American Music."  The special gala event held live at Amoeba Music’s Hollywood store on Thursday November, 8 2007 will feature a stellar line up of musicians including The Sin City All Stars, Dave Gleason, Mike Stinson, Quincy Coleman, Soda, Brandi Shearer, Original Flying Burrito Brothers Member, Chris Ethridge --plus special surprise guests  -- performing songs from the record.

Also in attendance that evening will be acclaimed photographer Andee Nathanson, whose intimate photos adorn the albums liner notes and booklet; Pamela Des Barres, who wrote the album’s liner notes and was at the two shows captured on the discs; and Gram’s daughter Polly Parsons. Fans will have a chance to get a free limited edition poster with purchase of the CD, while supplies last.

Gram Parsons, leading the Flying Burrito Brothers, opened for the Grateful Dead April 4, 5 and 6, 1969 at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco. The April 4th show has never been heard in any form. The bonus disc is the April 6th show. For years these tapes were rumored to exist and were finally unearthed in the Grateful Dead vault. The shows were recorded by the legendary sound engineer Bear (Owsley Stanley), and are the highest quality Gram Parsons live material available
