From the fans who showed up 8 hours before the band was set to play, to the Fire Marshall's last minute inspection, our little store experienced a few challenges before the stars of the evening could go on to entertain their minions.

And entertain they did. The crowd, obviously appreciative of the fact that this would be The Shins only L.A. area appearance supporting their new release (Wincing The Night Away, (c) 2007, Sub Pop Records) for at least two months, whooped and hollered and grinned at the sight of the five scruffy figures that finally sauntered on to the stage. They were ready for YOU.

The Shins played nearly a full set-roughly under an hour. Mostly new material, but when they pulled out a couple of those killer first and second record cuts, the folks went into a verbal frenzy. The singer's face squinted and smooshed, his emotions plain for all to experience. This was indie rock high art to their fan base, who responded with both cheers and tears. When the music stopped, the excitement didn't, as the band autographed memorabilia and met their congregation. It was one of those moments that Amoeba fashions specifically for its shopping clientele. Just ask any of the staff who had to clean up afterwards, these times are made for you.
