The whole thing was a celebration of the origins of Eastside Chicano Rock n' Roll, or so they tell me. And everybody was amped to be a part of this. Couples who remembered the first time Little Willie G crooned on their radios, a sad beautiful love song about Whittier Blvd. Hepcat Mexican psychobilly teeny-boppers soaking up their gritty heritage. The people of an era reliving nights best not talked about but always remembered. In celebration of a new collection released through Norton Records, Thee Midniters with Little Willie G landed on the Amoeba stage to generous applause from a crowd of 200 plus, waiting to groove to the smooth low rider soul cum rock n roll these gents helped create. The horns were tight, the
bass player killed it, the drummer had snap and Little Willie G sang his bloody heart out in a manor that is sorely lacking in today's market. Thank god they are carrying on the tradition until the next one comes.
