June 6th, 2009 - Berkeley
Moh Alileche (pronounced Ali LESH) sings the thrilling folk music of Kabylia, Algeria's primary Berber (Amazigh) region. He accompanies his original compositions with an especially tuned double stringed mandol.  Celebrating cultural heritage, this brilliant musician/songwriter  has won acclaim here and in his native Algeria. His album North Africa's Destiny won 2005 World Music Album of the Year by the Indie Acoustic Project. At the Berkleley World Music Festival, Moh will be celebrating his new album In Memory of a Hero. Joining him in Berkeley will be Matt Wright (banjo), Kevin Cloud (flutes), Briana Waters (violin), Tim Fuson (bendit), and Juliet Lee (tambourines).
