Ghost Rock (CD)
NOMO
Amoeba Review
Amoeba Staff 10/12/2010
For the last few years Elliot Bergman and like half of Michigan did a pretty good job of co-opting Afrobeat music for a younger generation. On Ghost Rock they've finally found themselves, and it turns out there's a pretty thick strain of Bitches Brew-era Miles running through their veins as well. Their genius comes in taking so many familiar ingredients and somehow creating a dish you've never tasted before. It's like a stew of hot, savory horn arrangements, simmering in exotic textures and sweet percolating rhythms. (Jacob Frye) Read More
