Amoeba Review
Matthew McDermott 02/04/2013
The Stroboscopic Artefacts (Perc, Xhin) boss returns to the Curle label with a dark, dubby cut not far off from Blawan’s recent world-beating work. The title track is built almost entirely out of rough textures and several rhythms, each more unidentifiable in origin than the next. A subtle two-note bell melody provides the hypnotic core of the track. As the track concludes, more reverb is applied, but overall, the track is a hallway without a glimmer of light. Pariah takes up remixing duties and turns in two beauties - the first retains the dark, hypnotic feel of the original but opens things up with a more club-friendly synth and slowly approaching bass pulse. It’s tough to pick a highlight between the gutting original and the slightly more inviting Pariah mix. This is techno in 2013. Read More
