Amoeba Review

Jeff Hunt 05/28/2010

Eldorado is an EP by Neil Young, recorded on December 13, 14 and 15, 1988, at the Hit Factory, in New York City; it was released on April 17, 1989 in Japan and Australia. Eldorado is significant, as it prefaces Young’s subsequent full-length album, Freedom, which would revitalize his career after a dismal decade of conflict with Geffen Records. Young is backed on Eldorado by Chad Cromwell and Rick Rosas, known as the Restless, and the collective sound is a punishing answer to the nascent grunge scene from the man who helped invent it. These tracks subsequently appeared in altered form on Freedom.
