Several warehouse spaces in the Factory will be curated by Amoeba Music. For our third annual art show, Amoeba is thrilled to feature work from over 60 representatives from our three locations – San Francisco, Berkeley, and Los Angeles. The creativity and diversity of the accomplished Amoebites knows no bounds; look out for film and sound installations and a dedicated graffiti/live mural room, in addition to more traditional formats. This year’s featured local artists and Amoeba family:

Lori Katz:
I have always been interested in representing nature in my work, both its elements of pure beauty and nature as process. I work the surfaces of my paintings by layering and removing paint so that it mimics the growth and decay that breaths life into our natural surroundings. The surfaces build a sense of space, place, and history. The backgrounds are made up of several layers of images that are found in textiles, scientific botanical drawings, stencils, and other appropriated images of plants and flowers. My newest body of work expands on my interest in patterns in nature by looking at the patterns and habits we develop in childhood. A donated artwork by Lori will be included in the silent auction to benefit her chosen charity: Girls Inc.: Inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. |

Billy Sprague:
Billy Sprague is an Oakland based multi-media artist. Current explorations include smoke-like surreal creatures delicately shaded with graphite on vintage or stained paper. These smaller experimental works have recently been getting reproduced as large colorful wall murals in urban and gallery settings. Sprague uses discarded brightly colored house paints and india ink to materialize these intestinal alien forms, which sometime include reel to reel tape loop or other sound devices within them. Sprague has shown his work recently in Berlin, Los Angeles, and at Oakland's Fort Gallery. A donated artwork by Billy will be included in the silent auction to benefit his chosen charity: Creativity Explored: a nonprofit visual arts center where artists with developmental disabilities create, exhibit, and sell art. |

Russell Quan:
has drummed for seminal Bay Area garage rock bands such as The Mummies, The Phantom Surfers, The Count Backwards, The Bobbyteens, and The Flakes. His obscure 60's record collection is the stuff of legends. Come sweat to the oldies with this king of the record swap.

Born of the cavernous pits of Italian horror flicks, the extravagant layers of Sacher-Masoch’s undergarments and the sordid, sullied stuff your mother was too timid to warn you about--this might be the scariest show on earth if his delivery weren't so damned perfect."
The East Bay's premier Velvet Underground-inspired psychedelic band, Exploding Plastic Amoeba! …Covering the following songs, jams, and compositions: “Venus in Furs,” “Sunday Morning,” “Femme Fatale,” “I'll Be Your Mirror,” “Heroin,” “All Tomorrow's Parties,” “I'm Sticking with You,” “Pale Blue Eyes,” “I'm Beginning to See the Light,” “Sister Ray/Feedback Jam,” and “I'm Waiting for the Man.” Members include:
