Sourced directly from the scarce Solo Art 78 from back in 1939, this Meade "Lux" Lewis release documents a mean boogie woogie piano player at his commercial peak. "Closin' Hour Blues" is mellower take on this common theme among some folks - remember Prohibition in the USA had only been repealed six years earlier. 'Far Ago Blues" is the stand out track. A mean left hand pound by Mr. Lewis stands out here - a true piano legend at his best. Heads up - there are some wonderful analog surface noises on this recording.
