Chaos And Disorder (CD) [Explicit]
Prince
Amoeba Review
Jeff Hunt 05/26/2010
Chaos and Disorder is the eighteenth studio album by Prince, issued by Warner Bros. in July of 1996, during their very prominent feud with the “Artist Formerly Known As” (this is when Prince insisted on being addressed with an unpronounceable symbol instead of his name). Adamant about supplying the label with material and getting out of his contract, Prince submitted this collection of lackadaisical, slapdash rock and pop tunes – and they actually make for a thoroughly entertaining listen. The title track is impossibly catchy, with its 60s funk-rock throb and weird calliope whorls, while “Dinner with Dolores” channels the Byrds. This isn’t earthshaking stuff, but it’s a booty shaker, and that’s enough.
